Although a registered Independent, my values and beliefs align much more with the Democratic party than with the Republican. Like many Americans, I was completely disgusted by the recent presidential election, and horrified by the results. While Hillary was certainly not without fault, she was by far a better candidate than the racist fascist who is now our leader. Thanks to the outdated and ridiculous process of the electoral college, the popular vote meant nothing.
Yesterday marked a remarkably important and crucial event in American history. Hundreds of thousands of women came together across the country and world to unify as one. We took a stand against racism, sexism, and hate. We stood up for our basic human rights. We demonstrated that we will not participate in a bigoted, one-sided, and sexist agenda. We took a stand.
I am proud to say that I marched, along with my husband and our seven month old daughter. It was a long and tiring day, but I am proud to say that I was a part of history. I am proud to say that I am one of those “nasty women” who Trump needs to watch out for. We will not be silent, we will not back down. Do not curse the darkness. Be the light. ❤
